An extension or loft conversion can be a breath of fresh air, transforming your home by adding significant areas of extra space.

An extension may not need planning permission if it is covered by what is known as ‘Permitted Development’ rights, which automatically grant homeowners permission to carry out certain types of work. However, it will still require approval under ‘Building Regulations’ – whereby an inspector will ensure work is carried out safely according to rules on matters such as structural integrity, fire safety, energy efficiency, damp proofing and ventilation.
